Evaluating cracks on Reinforced Concrete Structure

Abstract

A growing concern for a better evaluation of existing concrete structures has shown a need to better understand the structural effects of deterioration. Perform a detailed structural analysis characteristic or distinguishing feature of internal structures such as cracks in the building is very important to a civil engineer and helpful in his career. The most common causes of deterioration in concrete structures are crack, corrosion and exposure condition of the reinforcement. When concrete is subjected to shrinkage then deformation will occur. If this deformation is restrained, restraint forces will appear. Even though cracks are natural in reinforced concrete during the service state, they can cause durability problems if they become too large. Increased reinforcement amount as requirement as need and addition of fiber reinforcement to the concrete are two possibilities to control the cracking. In present paper, shortly describe about what should know every civil engineer in the face of the building has been cracking.

Prototype Analysis of Different Workflow Task Scheduling in Distributed Environment

Abstract

Cloud computing applications described different virtualization based resources which can be provisioned periodically and dynamically based on execution of different services with different users. Task and work scheduling is an essential step to process different resources which are delivered software as a service with multiple client in cloud environment. Scheduling of different tasks are utilized based on reduction of execution time with respect to resources. To describe these features in cloud computing conventionally more number of approaches/ methods and techniques were proposed. In this paper we discuss about different work flow and task scheduling algorithms with their respective constraints like time, cost, service utilization and other specifications in resource utilization in distributed environment. Also describe basic definitions relates to work flow scheduling described in existing approaches.

Sustainable traffic circulation at controlled intersection

Abstract

Traffic circulation is the activity that consumes most energy in Morocco, and is one of the main sources of gas emissions and greenhouse effect, causing congestion and generating noise. The current model for traffic management is unsustainable, it's fundamentally based on motorized transport and, specifically, the use of private car. In this paper, a typical four-legged intersection is studied with the aim of improving the control signal, we will evaluate the level of service, we calculate the optimum cycle time, and we will examine this result by applying the queuing theory. The validation of the optimal cycle time is approved through the comparison of the performance parameters.

Personnel Selection by Multi-Criteria Decision Making and a Case Study

Abstract

Personnel selection is one of the most significant and complex processes of human resources management. It depends choosing the best candidate for a job. But this process contains multiple factors affecting the results and contains uncertainty. Thus, personnel selection is handled as a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem in this study. Between various MCDM methods, due to their effective results, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods are utilized. Fuzzy logic is incorporated to TOPSIS to gain better results. A case study is performed to select best alternative and both two methods resulted with same alternative.

A theoretical calculation of relative pKas of phosphonic acids in an aqueous solution using idodesmic reaction and the Polarisable Continuum Model

Abstract

The geometries of the neutral and deprotonated structures of 24 phosphonic acids R-PO3H2 are optimized at the HF and B3LYP level using 6-31++G** and LANL2DZ basis set and SMD solvation model (R=H, CH3, C2H5, n-C3H7, n-C4H9, n-C6H13, iso-C3H7, iso-C4H9, s-C4H9, t- C4H9, CH2CH(CH3)3, C(CH3)2C2H5, CH2C6H5, CH=CH2, CH=CHC6H5, C6H5, CH2OH, CF3, CH2Cl, CHCl2, CCl3, CH2Br, CH2I, and CH2Si(CH3)3). Relative pka1 and pka2 of these systems are then calculated at the same level by isodesmic reaction in aqueous phase. The calculated values of the pKas are compared to the corresponding experimental values. The average error of pKas varies between -1.62±1.92 and -0.01±1.28 pKa unit.........

Modelling and Comparative THD Analysis of Cascaded H-Bridge Multi-Level Inverters

Abstract

Multilevel Inverters in recent years have more development and deployment in different industrial applications. Moreover, more research is being done on multilevel inverters by developing different switching and constructional topologies to get more power quality for DC-AC appliances. Total Harmonic Distortion is one of the major aspects in power quality. In this paper cascaded H-bridge with three, five, seven and nine level multilevel inverters are modelled. Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique is used as a control methodology for all the cascaded H-bridges modelled. Analysis of total harmonic distortion is done by using Fast Fourier Transform, where the nine-level cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter has less harmonic distortion than the other three. Simulation is done, the results are obtained on MATLAB\Simulink software and a comparative analysis is done among the four different level inverters.

Writing Direction Feature based Online Handwritten Kannada Numeral Recognition

Abstract

The paper presents the work carried out in the design of recognition module for online handwritten Kannada numerals. The Kannada script uses the decimal number system and hence there are ten symbols corresponding to ten decimal numbers. The collected online handwritten numeral data consists of 140 samples per class. Out of this data, 70 samples per class are used for training and the remaining 70 samples are used for testing. In total, 700 data samples are used for training and the remaining 700 data samples are used for testing the designed recognition module. The collected data are subjected to preprocessing. The adopted preprocessing steps are; filtering, sampling and normalization............

Abstract

There are many situations in topology where we build a topological space by starting with some simple spaces and doing some kind of " gluing" or "identifications". The situations may look different at first, but really they are instances of the same general construction.The present chapter introduces g*α-quotient map using and characterize their basic properties. Using these new types of function, several characterizations and its properties have been obtained.

Abstract

This article explains the development of risk management system for the Administrative Office in oncological institution. It focuses on events that may affect the operation of the organization and processes are performed. It draws on the NTC ISO 31000: 2011, using methodologies like What if ?, risk matrices, multi-criteria analysis scenarios and Leopold method in order to identify and address risks.It is evident that the most critical factor is the lack of culture focused on this issue. The results show that it can be implemented in any organization since none are exempt from having generated risks and controls safeguard the human being and the institution.
