The Effect of Bottom Sediment Transport on Wave Set-Up

Abstract

In this paper we augment the wave-averaged mean field equations commonly used to describe wave set-up and wave-induced mean currents in the near-shore zone, with an empirical sediment flux law depending only on the wave-induced mean current and mean total depth. This model allows the bottom to evolve slowly in time, and is used to examine how sediment transport affects wave set-up in the surf zone. We show that the mean bottom depth in the surf zone evolves according to a simple wave equation, whose solution predicts that the mean bottom depth decreases and the beach is replenished. Further, we show that if the sediment flux law also allows for a diffusive dependence on the beach slope then the simple wave equation is replaced by a nonlinear diffusion equation which allows a steady-state solution, the equilibrium beach profile.......

Wave-Current Interaction Model on an Exponential Profile

Abstract

We develop a model that approximates the exponential depth, which exhibits the behavior of linear depth particularly in the surf zone. The main effect of the present exponential depth is found in the shoaling zone, where the depth remains finite. The basic description and the outcome is essentially rip currents where in the surf zone the wave behavior is the same as found in the linear depth case. In the shoaling zone the present exponential depth exhibits the hypergeometric functions

Analysis of Metamaterial Based Microstrip Array Antenna

Abstract

Metamaterials have been intensively researched due to their peculiar features such as negative permittivity and/or permeability and ultra-refraction phenomenon. To satisfy the demand of commonly used wireless communication systems, an antenna which can operate at higher frequencies and enhanced characteristics are desirable. The arrangement of all elements is done that they provide an improvement in bandwidth, directivity return loss etc. The frequency response of a metamaterial can be tailored by varying its characteristics. A new metamaterial structure using square and ring split ring resonator is proposed. Using this metamaterial structure, a microstrip patch antenna is designed with enhanced characteristics such as reduction in return lossfrom-20dB to -36dB with tunability is achieved.

Abstract

Iris recognition system is an accurate biometric system. As of late, iris recognition is created to a few dynamic zones of research, for example, Image Acquisition, restoration, quality assessment, image compression, segmentation, noise reduction, normalization, feature extraction, iris code matching, searching large database, applications, evaluation, performance under varying condition and multibiometrics. This paper surveys a foundation of iris recognition and literature of recent proposed techniques in various fields of iris recognition system.

Abstract

In this present study, a numerical investigation has been carried out to discuss the steady, two dimensional flow of heat and mass transfer of electrically conducting tangent hyperbolic fluid in the presence of thermal dispersion. The tangent hyperbolic fluid is a four constant fluid model capable of describing shear thinning effects. The apparent viscosity for the proposed varies gradually between zero shear rate and shear rate tending to infinity. The flow is induced by a stretching surface. The solutions of the transformed nonlinear equations have been obtained by using Spectral Relaxation Method (SRM) and the results are validated by comparison with numerical approximations obtained using the Matlab in-built boundary value problem solver bvp4c, and with existing results available in literature.............

Abstract

The aim of present investigation is to study the nature of Casson fluid on MHD free convective flow of over an impulsively started infinite vertically inclined plate with Soret, thermal radiation, heat and mass transfer effects. Assuming the medium to be non-scattered and the fluid to be non-gray, emittingabsorbing and optically thin radiation limit properties, the basic governing nonlinear coupled partial differential equations are solved numerically using finite difference method. The relevant physical parameters appearing in velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are analyzed and discussed through graphs. We also computed the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers along with friction factor for the same cases. Finally, the results for velocity profiles and the reduced Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are obtained and compared with previous results in the literature and are found to be in excellent agreement. Applications of the present study would be useful in magnetic material processing and chemical engineering systems.

Abstract

The dual airfoil compressor rotor configuration is where two separate blades are mounted on a common rotating wheel. The premise of this study is that a dual airfoil rotor can do more work at the same loss level as a single airfoil, which would reduce the number of required stages in a compressor. While dual airfoils are commonly used in centrifugal impellers, they have yet to be applied to a commercial axial-flow rotor. This project presents some results of a 2-D computational study of the axial dual configuration in a fully subsonic flow field. This project also includes the numerical investigation of the steady, two-dimensional flow field in a tandem compressor cascade. The interaction mechanism has been investigated between the two blades. The comparison has been made based on the static and total pressure distribution along the blades.

Exclusion of malicious nodes using Secure Proactive Secret Sharing (SPSS) for Threshold Cryptography in MANETs

Abstract

The malicious nodes in MANETs can cause network malfunction, resulting in the damage of other nodes. Utmost significance is given to establish a secure communication within the group members of a network. The primary objective is to develop an appropriate model for improved security in MANETs. A new model called Secure Proactive Secret Sharing (SPSS) is proposed which resolves the various challenges that are identified in Threshold Cryptography. The SPSS model, is developed for the secret key transmission, where the secret key is divided into shares and these shares are distributed to the nodes taking part in communication. The nodes collect the shares, and a threshold number of shares are needed to reconstruct the secret key. The challenge in SPSS model is to identify the honest group head and honest shareholders............
