Metacognitive Teaching Strategies on Secondary School Students Academic Performance

Abstract

The study was undertaken to examine the effect of metacognitive teaching strategies on secondary school students' performance in chemistry. The study adopted pretest post test quasi experimental design. Three hundred and sixty senior secondary school II (SSII) chemistry students were drawn from three secondary school in Obio/Akpor Local Government of Rivers State Nigeria. Three research questions and three hypotheses were posed for the study. The instrument for data collection was a twenty five-item multiple choice chemistry achievement test (CAT) developed by the researcher. Students were divided into two experimental groups and one control group. Students in the experimental groups were subjected to treatment using thinking-aloud and self assessment metacognitive teaching strategies while students in the control group were taught with conventional method. Mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANCOVA were used for data analysis........

Abstract

This paper deals with the analysis of an irregular multi-storied building .The analysis is dynamic with the use of Response Spectrum Method. Shear Walls in general can be defined as the arrangement provided to resist the lateral forces such as due to wind and earthquake. It's generally noticed that the effectiveness of the Shear wall changes with the change in its location. Hence this research paper focuses on the effectiveness of shear wall considering various locations of the plan of building. The building plan considered is irregular in shape resembling the letter "L". The building considered in the analysis is a G+4 structure.8 Models representing different location of shear........

Abstract

Dynamic Analysis of a 8-storey building is done in this research paper and for this a irregular building has been taken into consideration. The research paper also considers the effect of change in the position of shear wall in the building plan and its effect on the structure during the analysis. Overall 8 cases of the various positions of shear wall has been considered separately and the comparative results has been seen. The building which we have taken for analysis is of irregular shape resembling the letter "L" in plan and has a height of 28.8 m. The dimensions are 25m along x direction and 30m along z direction.........

Advanced Approach to Play a Atari Game

Abstract

Addresses the challenge of learning to play many different video games with little domain-specific knowledge. It introduces a neuroevolution approach to general Atari 2600 game playing. Four neuroevolution algorithms were paired with three different state representations and evaluated on a set of 61 Atari games. The neuroevolution agents represent different points along the spectrum of algorithmic sophistication - including weight evolution on topologically fixed neural networks (conventional neuroevolution),covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA–ES), neuroevolution of augmenting topologies (NEAT), and indirect network encoding (HyperNEAT).These results suggest adaptation evolution strategy (CMA–ES), neuroevolution of augmenting topologies (that neuroevolution is a promising approach to general video game playing (GVGP).

Abstract

Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a digital record shared across different healthcare settings, by network-connected enterprise-wide information systems called EHR systems. Cloud computing paradigm is one of the popular Health Information Technology infrastructures for facilitating Electronic Health Record (EHR) sharing and EHR integration. Healthcare clouds offer new possibilities, such as easy and ubiquitous access to medical data, and opportunities for new business models. However, they also bear new risks and raise challenges with respect to security and privacy aspects. The global economic crisis has affected the health sector. The costs of healthcare services rise and healthcare professionals are becoming scarce and hard to find, it is imminent that healthcare organizations consider adopting health information technology (HIT) systems.........

Abstract

This paper was aimed to estimate carbon stocks in South East Sulawesi tropical forest, Indonesia, using Polarimetric Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolInSAR). Two coherence Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images of ALOS PALSAR full-polarimetric were used in this research. The research method is forming Random Volume over Ground (RVoG) model from interferometric phase coherence of two Full-Polarimetric ALOS PALSAR which temporal baseline is 46 days. Due to temporal decorrelation, coherence optimization was conducted to produce image with optimum coherences. The result showed that the RVoG forest height and carbon stocks which obtained from height inversion has a positive correlation with ground measurement

Optimization of ZLD in Distillery Industry by Reverse Osmosis Process for Prediction of Multi Responses by Taguchi Orthogonal Array

Abstract

In this study, the effects of Operating Pressure, Potential Hydrogen, Oxidation Reduction Potential and Anti Scaling Agent on multi responses like Permeate, COD, Total Solids, Conductivity and Hardness in the Reverse Osmosis Process were experimentally investigated on RO 8100 ST8 PT44 400Wl machine. The settings of RO parameters were determined by using Taguchi's experimental design method. Orthogonal arrays of Taguchi, the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) are employed to find the optimal levels and to analyze the effect of the RO parameters. Results show that potential of hydrogen, operating pressure, oxidation reduction potential and anti scaling agent are the four Parameters that influence the Permit more effectively and COD, Total Solids, Conductivity and Hardness respectively. Finally, the ranges for best RO conditions are proposed for ZLD process.

Abstract

The main aim of the project is to connect the two coats of the Dharamtar creek i.e. Rewas in Alibaug and Karanja in Uran by an immersed tunnel. The construction of proposed immersed tunnel will reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Alibaug from 3 hours to 1 hour. But this reduction in time includes the consideration of the sea-link from Sewri to Nhava Seva (Uran).Which was proposed by government and is already under construction. Thus construction of this immersed tunnel will ease the transportation of the city. In this study, a preliminary analysis of IZMIR immersed tube is carried out for validating purpose........
